There are some things in life that I seem to collect piles of. Things I DO NOT WANT. Odd socks is one (never, ever matching), those lanyards that go around your neck from conferences, and also biros that don’t work very well- although I can NEVER find one when I am listening to an answerphone message and need to take down a number and am ransacking every drawer for a pen.
Mobile phones is another, we have mobiles from every era, phones we used for years, others are old ones friends have left when they have left the country. On a daily basis, Ramona will emerge with yet another vintage Nokia circa 1998 (the one I have fondly kept for yonks because it is a miracle phone, having survived a swimming pool dive and a toilet dunk) having a conversation with a silent recipient.
Honestly, she spends hours on the phone every day, telling Nana, Grandma, Grandad Derrick, Baby Jesus and Santa Claus (she doesn’t know about Christmas being a short moment in the year and she is still very festive. At least a few times a day she’ll come in a room and state, in a way both factual and nonchalant and ever so slightly sinister, “Santa Claus is coming to town. He sees you when you are sleeping” ) all about every aspect of the day. She even has the pauses down…
Ramona: Hiya Baby Jesus, how ARE you?
*nods*
Ramona: We’ve been hiding.
*pause*
Ramona: And doughnuts, yeah.
*chuckles knowingly*
Ramona: The goose, the DADDY goose… gave bread… bit MY finger
*nods head*
*looks at me*
*weary sigh*
Ramona: Okay, gotta go. BYEEEE
*Hangs up*
Ramona is sadly going to have to say BYEEE to all these mobile phones, however, as I have just learnt you can make dosh from them. Actual dosh. Previously I thought recycling them was a none done thing - I have even tried to palm them off on charity shops before and they haven’t been accepted. (It is always embarrassing when a charity shop won’t take your donations, eh?) But now you can send them along to Top Dollar Mobile and they will actually pay you for your rubbish (and also good!) old phones.
Ramona is going to have to go even more old skool and exercise her chatterbox ways with our retro landline….
This is a sponsored post (my very first actually!) but of course I wouldn’t promote anything I don’t agree with and will always be honest!

Her conversation sounds so cute!

She is a cutie alright
I love your old phone with the vintage BT logo. I usually stick K on the phone to her Nan to give me some peace for 10 minutes… I’m sure my mum LOVES hearing her talk about her poos and the like.

Yes, great idea! Ramona clams up with real people: /
Kids are funny! at least you dont have teenagers making calls to moblies for 10 minutes each time!!!
*dreads that time*
When I got a new phone my network provider gave me £60 for the old one. Which was nice. Made me think about digging out all my other old ones…

Scwing! Many of mine have lived way too much to get much for I think…
Ha, my 5 year old has always had good conversations on the phone. Now when I speak to her I have to remember that she is only 5 as the she sounds so grown up. Charlie (1 year) is just at the picking up and holding to his ear stage. Everything can be used as a phone apparently……a remote……a Wii control……my epilator!!! God help me when he starts talking! x

Haha that stage is hilarious!!! Ramona used to use everything!
So cute! Funnily enough we have just got ‘Jesus’ the goldfish after a request from the 4 year old – might have to get Santa to keep him company

Hahaa that is awesome. Everyone with a beard is Jesus’s dad and everyone with a scarf on is his Mummy!
This post absolutely made my day. I laughed so hard! I love Ramona’s gorgeous personality and you’re awesome writing style. (Oh, and my new favourite word is loquacious! Love it!).
This comment made my day
Loquacious IS grand eh- lots of other words for “talkative” can be a little negative!
